Because almost all automation control system uses analog singals, but the common PC monitor uses digital signal. So a pc monitor cannot apply to industrial use directly. This is one of the differece between a industial monitor with a general PC monitor.



Secondly, the industrial monitor working enviroment is much worse compare to a general monitor. mostly, industrial monitor must dust proof, oil proof, and water proof, and with anti-shock ability.



Many old industrial monitors from old generation automation after a longterm use, was broken, and need to be repaired or replaced by a new generation industrial lcd monitor.
