Universal Recycling Company was formed in 1992 with the merger of A. Loewenthal Metals founded in 1938 by Alfred Loewenthal and Universal Metal Holdings, an associated company of the Cape Gate Group.
The company provides trading, processing and transportation to the ferrous and non-ferrous recycling industry. Universal Recycling operates 2 facilities in Industria Johannesburg and a processing facility in Vanderbijlpark, 50 kms South of Johannesburg.
